Gesellenstück Mons Meg

Apprenticeship as a carpenter at www.schreinerei-luther.de in Darmstadt-Arheilgen, passed with distinction 2005.

My journeyman´s piece  Mons Meg (shown on the right) was a violin / instrument showcase named-due to its massiv construction- after the medieval bombard cannon in Edinburgh castle.

After one year as a journeyman I enrolled at the violinmaker´s school in Mittenwald, Bavaria, where I began my apprenticeship as a luthier in the Alps... there- after an obligatory hammered dulcimer- I produced several classical guitars and the Mittenwald Anniversary zither, before I finally turned to making steel string instruments: guitars to begin with and later mandolins and Irish bouzoukis, too. The apprenticeship was successfully finished in 2009.

In 2010 I started working  with restorer Joachim Höfler www.antik-hoefler.de in Darmstadt and established my own workshop  in Mühltal.

Since 2012 I have been supporting Rigk Sauer at RISA Instruments www.ukulele.de by building prototypes, installing pickup systems and providing technical customer service.

More recently i have also been working freelance for Heiner Dreizehnter Gitarrenbau in  South  Germany.

I've been playing guitar since I was ten years old. In the last years i've been on tour with Luna Melisande and Bold Seamen All , and can be found regularly at our  Irish Session in the Bessunger Forst.

Since June 2015  I am fully self-employed as a luthier.
